The purpose of this corporation is :

Coordinate the public, private and Aboriginal sectors

Linking employers with the Aboriginal labor force.

Linking Off-Reserve First Nations, Inuit and Métis institutions
with employers.

Relating Aboriginal training with real job opportunities.

Fostering a greater role for Aboriginal communities in employment

Applying employment equity at all levels.

Overcoming barriers based on racial and cultural factors.

Facilitating investments by the private sector.
-
to preserve, share and promote the culture and history of the Off-Reserve
First Nations, Inuit and Métis people and to work towards developing
the potential of the Off-Reserve First Nations, Inuit and Métis
community through a variety of programs.
To promote the identity and recognition of the Off-Reserve First Nations,
Inuit and Métis people of Canada

• To promote the participation of the Off-reserve First Nations
peoples in local and territorial organizations

• To ensure that all Off-Reserve First Nations people are aware of and
are assured access to their legal, social and political rights

• To promote the history, culture and role of the Off-Reserve First
Nations peoples in the development of Canada

• To cooperate with other organizations of similar or friendly purpose
.

• To seek re-affirmation by the Government of Canada and the GNWT of the
aboriginal rights of its membership

• To promote the participation of all Off-Reserve First Nations
peoples in all spheres of economic activity in Canada

• To recognize and respect the goals and objectives of those regions
that have entered into negotiations for land claims or have finalized land
claims.
Aboriginal rights are now constitutionally
guaranteed and protected .
Political efforts to achieve enduring and satisfactory
resolution of different First Nations issues are carried on by different
First Nations organizations and leaders. First Nations land claim negotiations
in different provinces and the Northwest Territories reflect the increasing
need to establish a land base for economic growth and development.
The future for First Nations Peoples in Canada is increasingly
looking brighter. Despite a long history as Canada's "forgotten people",
Off-Reserve First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities and
families are reclaiming their colorful and rich past and establishing programs
and agendas to prepare for the 21st century.
Until now, The Off-Reserve First Nations, Inuit and Métis
People were not fully represented by their own Aboriginal caucus/ agency
in every province
The criteria for Off-Reserve First Nations, Inuit and
Métis registrations with "The Canadian Off-Reserve
Indian Nations, Inc." is :
(1)...Proof of aboriginal ancestry
(2)...Identify yourself as First Nation, Inuit or Métis
person
(3)...Accepted by a First Nation, Inuit or Métis
